Aduke looked at her watch and hoped that DG would arrive soon. He had promised to come and she had to wait, otherwise, she was tired of this party and the backstabbing she had just witnessed. She was amazed that the party quickly went back into full swing, like nothing had happened.

The band was in their element, praise singing and getting many notes sprayed on their faces. The moment Chief Owen-Browne stepped on the stage, the fervour picked up, the band sang louder and faster, hoping for more money which they got from the rich Chief who was surrounded by his young wife and her many friends.

The older Mrs Owen-Browne just stood back, irritated by it all. This was a party she had organised and spent her hard earned money on, how dare they steal her show. She wondered what she could do to get back at them. She walked from table to table, asserting herself as the hostess by ensuring that everyone was fine.

It was not necessary for her to do this for it was apparent that they were okay, as each table was laden with goodies.

Suddenly, there was commotion outside as policemen stormed the venue. ‘Turn off this music, turn it off now’ they yelled
‘We are here for Owen-Browne. Where is he?’ they asked
‘You are to come to our station right now, for averting the cause of justice!’ said the policemen who were emboldened by the money they had received from Owen-Browne’s enemies. The mission was easy. They were to embarrass him as publicly as possible. They knew the chief would probably be back home tonight, but the brief they had received was to make his arrest as noisy and embarrassing as possible.

The head of the team played his role well.
‘My friend what is this about?’ asked Owen Browne from the stage
‘You have been invited to the station to discuss a case of aversion of justice!’ yelled the officer
‘We can discuss this quietly. Come to this side of the stage.’ said Owen Browne with the confidence of one used to having his way
‘No sir! Please respect your self sir! We have been asked to get you. Boys get him!’ said the team leader who yelled with glee
‘And, get his young wife too. She has been fingered as being part of a ring of ritual killers who buy babies for juju’ yelled the officer
‘What? Me?’ That’s a lie!’ yelled Sweety Potato
