‘Sweetie, don’t struggle, everything will be sorted. Please everyone, relax and enjoy yourselves this would all be sorted out soon and we would be back to finish our thanksgiving party, as you can see, our enemies are hard at work here’ he said as he and his young wife were escorted out of the venue.

The older Mrs. Owen Browne stood aside, shocked that God could have answered her prayers so swiftly. Was there truly a God or had her older brother’s friend, the former Inspector General done something about this? Whatever the case was, she had to make sure this party was remembered for something other than this mess.

She took to the stage and quickly made an announcement.
‘As you all heard, this is just the work of detractors and they will soon be back to join us.

Pease wait for your souvenirs before you leave, she waved the transparent bags in front of the crowd, ensuring that the iPhone 6 carton was very obvious. She knew the party crew very well because only a few people left after the incident, the others stayed back not hiding the fact that they were waiting for their souvenir packs with the phone.

Aduke sat, glued to her seat, a mixture of disgust and respect mixed on her face when she felt a light tap on her shoulder. She quicky turned around and found herself looking into Danladi’s eyes. He was well dressed in a white native, with detailed embroidery on the neck and cuffs, he topped this off with a multicoloured locally had crafted cap. He looked really good.
‘Ah, you’re here!’ she said, quickly giving off the fact that she had been waiting for him
‘Yes, but, I can barely hear you, let’s go outside’ he said, one finger on one ear, his face screwed up at the harshness of the the loud music on his ear drums.
‘Old man.’ she teased. ‘Please meet Simi. It’s her safe return we’re here to celebrate’ she said as Simi and Gabbo exchanged pleasantries.

They made their way out, but not before he was stopped by his many acquaintances for a quick hello.
‘Phew! That was loud. I have never been able to sit through these things’ he said as he held hand as he led the way to his vehicle where they sat on the bonnet.
‘So, how has your day been?’ asked Gabbo
‘Do you really want to know? responded Addy, who then proceeded to tell him everything he had missed, adding her own thoughts and advice along the way.

Gabbo threw his head back and laughed, a throaty laugh.

‘There is never a dull moment around you Addy’ he said as he drew her into an embrace, ignoring the people who were around or his driver who sat in the car.

Suddenly, his eyes got serious ‘I never want to have a dull moment in my life. I figured that I am too old to go the boy-meets-girl-route, I’m impatient to wait for happiness to happen to me. I want it all now, and I want you with me forever.

He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out a ring. If you will have me, Aduke, I would love to be your husband. Will you marry this old man?’ he asked with serious eyes
‘Are you serious?’ she blurted out
‘Yes, I am’ he said smiling
‘Of course I will marry you!’ she said as gave him her hand. The ring was a perfect fit.
‘Gabbo, where did you get this perfect ring so quickly?’ she asked looking at the beautiful ring on her hand
‘We have some history, little girl. I have all your sizes’ he said
‘So we are engaged?’ she asked
‘It seems we have a wedding to plan baby…’he responded as he kissed her again, both of them unaware of the many pictures that had been taken of them.

**********

Belinda Splinkeji sat at her desk and wondered how to write her posts. Should it be three posts or just one for the whole party. This was the most interesting party of the year, she was certain her traffic ratings would go over the roof! Life just got better.
