‘Mummy, come out!!!’ yelled Tessy ‘I will leave you behind o!’ she said, toying with the keys of the Range Rover sport she had rented for the day.
‘Okay, let’s go’ said Tessy’s mum, who came out looking stunning. ‘I don’t think we would meet the church event, let’s head for the reception’ she suggested.
‘No, we would go to the church first, even if it is to meet them taking the pictures, we must appear in those pictures too’ responded Tessy as they left for the church.

Tessy was right, she walked into the church premises as the service was over and she met pictures being taken. She was irritated to see that Aduke had taken her space and was surprised that Anita was nowhere to be found. She sensed Simisola’s coldness to her and was certain the irritating Aduke was responsible for it. What the hell was going on? She intended to find out before the end of the day.

‘Don’t worry, water would soon find its level ‘ she muttered to herself, as she played along.
‘Okay, girls let’s go home before we go to the reception’ said Simi’s mother, who was guarding her daughter like a hawk.
‘Aduke, please ride with me’ said Simi who pointedly ignored Tessy
‘My driver has issues, so I will drive behind you’ offered Tessy who stopped by her mom to ensure she had a friend who could bring her to the reception.

‘Hmm’ said Simi, who had her plans carefully la!d out.

Once they got to the Owen-Browne apartment, Tessy cornered Simisola and attacked her
‘Simi, why are you being cold to me?’ she asked
‘Me? Cold? To you? Are you sure you are not imagining things?’ asked Simisola
‘I know you, Simi. Tell me what’s up?’ said Tessy
‘Think about it yourself. What did you do? asked Simi
‘I didn’t do anything, Sims. I swear’ said Tessy
‘Okay, no problems’ she said.

Tessy’s mind was not at rest. She went over her many schemes and wondered what exactly she had done wrong. She knew Aduke had to be the cause of all this
‘You’ she said as she pointed to Aduke
‘Outside’ she said, pointing to the balcony
‘What did you tell Simi about me?’ she asked
‘About you? Nothing’ responded Addy innocently
‘Why is she cold to me?’ asked Tessy
‘I don’t know. All can say is that she said her close friends had disappointed her’ said Addy, hoping to help ‘I’m sure it is a mix up you can both work out after the party’ advised Addy
‘I think I hear her calling me, let’s go.’ said Addy. When Simi saw them coming in from the balcony, she looked at them suspiciously and faced Tessy ‘What are you trying to do again Tessy? What plans are you trying to pull Addy into?’
‘Plans? I’m not planning anything, Simi’ said Tessy who was truly confused.
‘Anyway, Aduke, let’s go’ said Simi ‘My mum said the reception has started. Tessy took that as a cue to drive behind them. It was a short distance, but it was long before Tessy found a parking space for the venue was already jam-packed with many luxurious cars.

As soon as she entered the hall, she looked out for her friends and walked over to the table to sit opposite Simi, her eyes emitting daggers. How could Simi choose Aduke over her? She had taken a glass of champagne when she noticed Simi signalling to someone, however, it did not bother her.

‘Tessy, what are you doing here?’ Simi asked as though she had seen her for the first time. Thankfully, the music was loud, so only people at their table could hear her.
‘Wh…’ began Tessy
‘Did I invite you or your mother to my party? Did you not collude with Anita to have me kidnapped? She told me that you told her of all my plans? You are now here claiming to be my friend? Please stand up and leave before I embarrass you!!!’ yelled Simisola. Her gesticulations and increasing decibels were enough to attract the people who sat at the tables which surrounded them
‘It was Anita that kidnapped you? And she told you I was with her?’ asked Tessy, in disbelief
‘Yes! Don’t come here thinking you can pretend to me. You were in on it’ yelled Simi ‘Please, take her out!’ No sooner had the words left her mouth that the Party Security swooped in, dragging Tessy out. ‘Yes, she’s one of the people who planned to have me kidnapped’ said Simi to those who asked what the issue was.

‘Leave my arms!!!!! Let go!!!! I can walk out by myself. Leave me, let me walk out myself’ she said as she struggle in between the huge bouncers. ‘Simi, this is not fair’ she yelled as humiliating tears filled her eyes. She could see pictures being taken and knew that this would be in the society columns the next day.

Aduke sat by, watching with wide eyes, unable to believe that Simi had embarrassed her friend that way.
‘Simi, that’s not fair. You should not do that to a friend. She asked you what was wrong in the house, you could have saved her the embarrassment’ said Addy, unhappy.

‘This is payback. Tessy has been a money grabber for too long. I needed to shake her claws off me’ said Simi

‘So, Anita did not really arrange to have you kidnapped ? and Tessy was not an accomplice?’ asked Aduke
‘Oh, it was Anita and her boyfriend, but Tessy just had to go’ said Simi with an innocent face
‘Whyyy!!! People will think she’s a kidnapper!’ said Aduke who was visibly upset
‘Addy, don’t worry, you will learn how our world works soon.’said Simi, who was once more queen bee at the table, she could see that everyone was on their mobile device and was certain that the gist was spreading fast. Tessy was quickly going to become a persona-non-grata. She, Simisola was tired of the idiot anyway.
