D.G , everything Peter said was a lie’ said Addy in a rush
‘I know, I figured it out’ said Gabbo
‘So why were you like that in the house?’ asked Addy, confused
‘Because I had not thought about it properly then, because I was shocked to find you there in Ambali’s house. My head quickly questioned how you knew Peter’s whereabouts, it did not add up.’ he said, the doubt showing again in his eyes.
‘I called Ambali to enquire about Peter’s whereabouts when his number was not going through. I wanted Peter out of my life but I hoped that he could remain friends with me. So I came here to talk to him’ she said
‘And?’ asked Gabbo
D.G , right now, he and I cannot be friends. I know you will not believe it, but the Peter I dated and this bitter young man are two different persons. Peter was the best friend any girl could ask for, he was the best boyfriend too. He looked out for me and really took care of me. It might be hard for you to hear this, but the Peter I knew would never do this thing. He would understand that I have moved on and would stand back until all the hurt is gone. I feel guilty and sorry, that perhaps I created this Peter’ she said, with very sad eyes ‘and I had hoped that I could speak to him, make him come around, but I guess not. I have tired my best’. she said.
‘So, have you?’ asked [B] D.G‘I did and it is a lot of money. But, I don’t think it rightfully belonged to me. That money belonged to a drug induced young lady who did things that I would never have done if I was in my right senses. I did not want anything that connected me to that night. I did not want its reminder around me. Sometimes, I wonder if you do not think about that night too’ she said
‘Oh, I do, I think about it a lot. I ask myself how come you were able to be two different persons’ he asked
‘One of my friends spiked my drinks and well, I went mad. Till date, I cannot remember the details of what happened’ she said
‘Are you serious? Shall I fill you in?’ he asked
‘Yes.’ she said, mortified that this conversation was even happening, yet, she wanted to know how badly things had gone
‘It was one of the parties that we have, my old friends and I. I’m usually too busy for those, but I attend just to keep the network open and this time, it took place at my one of my other houses. You were wild, dancing at the first sound of music, on a stool, stripping in front of the others and faster than the other girls who only saw you as a competitor. They also went wild that night, all thanks to you. You kissed the girls, but it obviously wasn’t your thing’ he said, laughing quietly to himself. Addy could not look into his eyes, she averted her face even though her whole body was tuned to him and every word that he said.
‘But there is a standing rule at these parties, the host chooses first and of course, I chose you. After playing a bit with each other, I decided to try one of the toys on you. The moment you yelped from the pain in your errr…. rear region, I suspected you weren’t one of the regulars, so I took you away from the party and into the room where all efforts to s£duce you failed woefully. I left you to sleep and went home’ he finished off
‘So do you still attend these parties?’ she asked
‘No, I don’t. That will be the last one ever’ he responded
”Hmmm.. so I was really wild?’ she asked
‘Yes, very’ he answered, matter-of-factly
‘Now, let’s talk about us. Has the S£x with me been bad?’ he asked, referring to what Peter said
‘Do you really feel the need to ask me that? Really?’ she asked him, referring to their many jokes they’d shared about how loud she was in bed when she was having a good time.
‘I know, but a man likes to hear these things’ he said, laughing
‘So you won’t judge me ever?’ asked Aduke, this was something she had worried about for a long time
‘No. I’ve had my past and everyone is entitled to theirs. I’m only insistent that the past remains past’ he said
‘Okay, so where do we go from here?’ she asked
‘We will take it one day at a a time, try to have a regular relationship and get to know each other afresh’ he said ‘I will drop you off at your place and visit you everyday. Who knows, you might just hate me’ he said
‘And you might hate me too’ she said ‘I’ve moved to my aunty’s place’
‘Ha. Better.’ he responded ‘I think its better for you to be at home at this time’ he said
‘Yes. Grandpa’ she responded, teasing
‘Oh, ok I’m your grandpa now. Tell me, have you had many fantasises of your grandpa doing this to you?’ he asked as he pulled her over and kissed her long ad deep.
‘Errr, no baby’ she responded when the heat went down
‘Good. I must remain a baby to you’ he said as he started the engine
‘So, let’s play boy-meets-girl, let’s go back to the basics. I will drop you off now and then visit you tomorrow okay?’ he asked
‘Yes. Ohhh dang! I have a party tomorrow’ said Aduke as she remembered Simi’s party and thanksgiving ceremony
‘Don’t worry, send me the address, I will be there, I’m on a mission to make you fall in love with me’ he said
‘Okay baby’ she responded as they both burst out laughing as he carefully edged his CLA 250, one of his smaller cars onto the road.
When his bumper finally got brushed by a commuter bus, he and Aduke burst out laughing as he waved the appalled bus driver, who was already prostrating away. Gabbo knew he would have to report himself to his driver.
‘Have I what?’ responded Aduke, confused.
‘Have you moved on?’ he asked, with hopeful eyes
‘Yes. I have. I think it was easier for me to move on because I found a man with a very good heart. One who looked beyond the questionable circumstances in which we met and really tried to know me’ she said
‘I assume I’m this man?’ he asked, joking.
‘Hmmm, let me see.’ she said, loving the fact that he was trying to put her at ease in the middle of a really serious discussion ‘Yes, you are the man’ she said, smiling
‘Good.’ he said ‘Now, my turn’
‘Aduke, I would like to ask a few questions’ he asked. She nodded in assent, a sign that he could carry on
‘Do you think you might still be in love with Peter, even in a tiny way?’ he asked
‘No.’ she said clearly
‘What do people mean by ‘Rich Kids of LasGidi’? he asked, shy that he could not get this thing that had been inferred for so long.
‘It’s a silly name, coined to talk about the kids from rich and prominent homes here. The kids who are society’s little darlings and superstars.

Many people aspire to be like them’ she said
‘Someone once told me you wanted to be one of them, that this is the reason you were with me.

Is this true?’ he asked
‘No. This isn’t true.’ I have no reasons to want everyone in my business, to be on the cover of tabloids or the face that graces the blogs.

I’ve had that experience once and quite frankly, it was not worth it’ she said
‘Last question, I promise. Why did you leave the money on my office desk?’ he asked
‘The envelope from Peter? The one he was to give me from that first night at the white party?’ she asked
‘Yes. It was rightfully yours. Did you count it?’ he asked
