Aduke raced behind Gabbo, holding up the tattered remains of her skirt, her face, streaked with dried up tracks of her tears. She was surprised to see Gabbo behind the steering wheel for it was the first time she would see him drive.

Aduke opened the door and sat stiffly beside him.

After several minutes of tense silence, Aduke relaxed her back into the car seat for she knew that she had no option. Perhaps, due to many years of being chaffer driven, Gabbo was a terrible driver. Even in the midst of her sadness, she found it amusing that such a man could not really drive. She tried to hide a small smile because she was happy that at last, there was something he was not so perfect at.
‘Care to share the joke?’ asked Gabbo in a very irritated voice
‘It’s nothing’ said Aduke
‘I’m surprised that you can find some humour in the midst of this disgusting situation, in the midst of the fact that you were almost raped by someone you had dated for so long. Oh, do not forget that he did not mind setting you up as a gold digger too. You are the worst judge of character there ever was!’ said Gabbo, reminding her of her recent misfortunes.
‘You knew Peter was lying?’ asked Aduke
‘Yeah, I figured it out. My mind already told me, by my head refused to believe it.’ he said
‘So, what changed it? Why do you suddenly think I’m not after your money or that I think our S£x was Shtt?’ asked Aduke with flashing eyes. She was about to give full reign to her own anger, the men around her had treated her too bad for too long.

‘Hey, curb it Tiger’ said Gabbo, easily irritable because these were not the circumstances he had imagined he would meet when he left his house.
‘We need to have a serious talk, Aduke’ he said as he pulled the car to park by the roadside. It was an odd place to have a conversation, but they were protected by the slight tint on the windows.
‘Shtt’ he said again when the car came to an abrupt stop.

Aduke smiled again, tickled that for all his savviness, he could not do the easiest thing in the world. Gabbo could not drive to save himself .
‘Aduke, are you by chance laughing at me?’ he asked quietly
‘Err, not really’ she responded
‘Would you care to elaborate?’ he asked
‘Well, it is funny that you cannot really drive. The look on your face when you step on the brakes is so funny. Where is your driver?’ she said smiling even wider
‘Nice to see that you are so light spirited. I could not leave my driver in the car to witness you walk out of that house with torn skirts. He would assume the worst without being sure of what happened inside and would spread useless rumours. So I sent him home. I think we even drove past him.’ he said
‘Oh.’ It felt like a dash of cold water on her head. She immediately sobered up as she realised that this man had tried to protect her modesty.

‘And I can drive. I just haven’t driven in about ten years and because this is a new car, I’m yet to get the hang of it. I would be mortified to take a scratched car home to my driver. He would think I cannot drive’ he said, saying the last sentence in a mock whisper. His eyes danced in mirth.
‘Thank you’ said Aduke, now really sober.
