Wale walked into the room and kicked Anita. He needed to be sure if the Bytch was still knocked out. It seemed that she was. Good, it would be a good time for him to write the plot that had been hanging in his head. He knew how these things worked, he would have no balance until he was able to expel the words that were there, waiting to be written. So, he sat down and switched on his laptop. It had been a long time since he touched it and so he quickly used his fingers to wipe the dust that lay on the surface of the laptop and got down to business.

As the words began to come in torrents, his phone rang. Upset that his flow had been disrupted, he angrily picked up the phone, without looking at the screen.
‘Yes! Ah Lagata na you. Wetin happen? he asked
‘EEh? Them offer you money too? Okay. Don’t worry. They don’t know how far back we’ve come o. You know what? Pretend to be in on their deal and keep them engaged. Them think say na today we just know each other ba? Prison buddies no be joke oh? Go and show them Lagata, play their game with them, keep them entertained. I will soon be there.’ He said

He listened a bit more and focused on what was being said
‘What? What? Ogadi dey craze? He really wants to cut me out of my own deal? Is he mad? Anyway, don’t worry; I’m coming there right now. I’m going to clear this whole mess up’ said Wale, who began to pace the room.

He looked over to Anita and briefly wondered what to do with her.

He went into the rest room and wet a rag with some more chloroform which he put over Anita’s mouth. He was surprised when she struggled, but was happy that the bonds that held her were strong. He waited for a few minutes to ensure she was knocked out before he continued to make the other plans.

First, he went downstairs to ensure that all his other neighbours had gone to work. Once he confirmed that his was the only car in the compound and the coast was clear, he carried Anita and plonked her in the trunk of his car. He looked around for their gateman who was nowhere to be found, so he drove off, leaving the gate open.

As Wale zoomed off, a police truck lumbered down the road, paused in front of his house and zoomed after him.

Officer Johnson and Ajala were pleased that they had read the address and vehicle number in the letter clearly. They hoped against hope that it was the Wale man driving the car. They would silently follow him to his destination and then radio for help if need be.
