Simisola could hear movements but she was constrained by the position she had been tied into. A mat had been provided and she had been asked to lay on it. One of the guys had then come to tie her hands loosely but firmly behind her. She lay on her side, with only a partial view of the empty room. The floor was too hard for her, but she dared not complain.

She could see one of them now, the one called Lagata, scurrying about, looking out the window of the building to see if anyone was coming. She wondered where his accomplice had gone to and why he was acting extra dodgy today. She heard, rather than saw him walk to the back of the building and imagined that he was carrying out some more routine surveillance.

Simi suspected that the police were closing in on them and this was probably the reason why he seemed so jittery. Simi heard him walking in her direction and was apprehensive of what could happen next. She hoped the police would not botch this attempt to free her. She had been making a conscious effort to stay positive since her abduction. She knew it was the only thing she could do. She must not give up mentally.
Suddenly, she saw his dirty boots and skinny jeans as he stood directly front of her.

‘Rich man pikin, you no chop the food we give you ba?’ Lagata asked referring to the dried up beans in the aluminium plate that she had ignored. ‘No be your kind food be this abi?’ he asked with a sneer on his face
‘It’s not like that sir. I don’t have an appetite right now’ Simi knew that under normal circumstances, she would not have a conversation with such a person. More importantly, she knew their paths would probably never have crossed. It was funny now, that she referred to this same person as ‘sir’.
‘You go need the energy o! Ehen! Because e get work wen you go do for me before Ogadi come back’ he said ominously.

Simisola wondered what the assignment was to be. She desperately hoped they were not going to ask her to cook, for she did not know how to cook and even if she did, the circumstances around this place were less than perfect for her to show off her non-existent culinary skills.

He walked away again to check the window and came back, suddenly emboldened by the fact that the coast was clear.
‘You no go ask the work wey I wan give you do? he asked as he burst out in a mirthless laugh.
‘We go test whether wetin people dey talk na true’ he said, still smiling ‘Dem talk say rich girl toto dey sweet pass. Na true?’ he asked
It took Simisola a few seconds to decipher what he meant and the moment she did, her heart started thudding. She hoped that this dirty man wasn’t going to attempt to Molest her. She did not deserve this. She could see his eyes roving all over her body as he licked his lips and winked at her.

She la!d there, with her hands tied behind her, chest inadvertently jutting out, making her breasts appear bigger. She shut her eyes because she was sacred. Simi said another silent prayer to God, telling him how good she was going to be if she was rescued from this situation. She had expected that by now, her father would have swooped in and saved her.

He stepped forward, knelt by her and began to unfasten the buttons on her pla!d shirt. A shirt that she had rushed into just for the Saturday breakfast with her Daddy. She cursed herself for choosing this shirt over the numerous round neck tee-shirts that she could have worn. Her skin crawled as he went methodically from one button to the next. Slowly, popping one, then the next.

She wriggled as she tried to evade his hands. At last her shirt was open to the waist, showcasing her black lace bra which did a useless job of properly covering up her modesty.
‘Chaii…see bobbi’ Lagata said as he got up to do a crazy dance, hot stepping on one spot. ‘Oh boy, e don tay since I chop this kain oshofree’ he said as he stepped forward and rudely flicked first one Tip and then the other. He stepped back again and laughed, intoxicated by his own power.
‘Oga please. Don’t do this, I beg you’ said Simi who was shivering from fear. ‘Please, I will give you anything you want, my Daddy will pay you any amount sir’ she said on the verge of tears
‘Before nko? You will give me what I want na and I go still collect your papa money on top sef.

No worry, na only one small round I go do’ He said as he excitedly began to remove his pants without removing his boots first. Simi watched in horror as the pants pooled at his feet.
‘You see this black mamba’ he said, stroking his erection ‘E go sweet you well well. Na you go ask for more sef’ he said, with a grin on his face.

Simisola struggled against the restraints that held her down; she knew she needed to get away before this mad man and came close to her. She found that the more she struggled, the tighter the noose on her hands became. She watched as he came close to her and made an attempt for the button and zip of her jeans trousers. Simisola fought for her life. She kicked and bit him, all the while yelling for help at the top of her voice.

She only kept quiet when she received a hot, resounding slap from him, and then another, then it was peppered with blows. Lagata needed to teach this stubborn goat a lesson. After all, he was after only one round. As Simi submitted to his blows, he struggled with her zipper again, this time successfully pulling down her trousers as he grumbled.
‘Sontin wey you suppose gree make person chop sharp sharp don turn to work’ he said as he tried to prise her thighs apart for Simi had held them together in a vice like grip. She was determined that this idiot was not going to Molest her without a fight. When she realised that her strength was ebbing, she shut her eyes for the onslaught that was about to happen, but soon realised that it was not to be for something had happened, his weight was no longer pressing against her.

Somehow, In the midst of the scuffle, Ogadi, the more refined of her abductors had returned. It was he who had lifted Lagata off her and pinned him to the ground.
‘Are you mad? Na the deal wey we get be this? If woman dey hungry you, you know where you can find one na’ he said, angrily, landing blow upon blow on Lagata.
‘If Wale hears this, what do you think would happen? I have risked so much for this money and I would not allow you to mess my chances up, just for one lousy Fork. Have you heard me?’ yelled Ogadi.
‘Haba sorry nah, E no reach to dey blow me like this na. You for just talk’ responded Lagata who obviously respected Ogadi a whole lot. ‘Abeg, no tell Oga Wale. You know as he dey take vex’ said Lagata
‘Get the hell outta here, my friend’ said Ogadi who was obviously angry. As soon as Lagata exited, Ogadi faced Simi, almost too embarrassed to look at her.
‘I’m sorry you had to go through that. Are you okay? Did he..? Asked Ogadi
‘No. No. You came on time. Thank you thank you’ said Simi who burst into tears as Ogadi buttoned her shirt up and struggled to pull her jeans up.
‘I’m sorry. Please’ he said, he looked and sounded very sincere.
‘Please let me go, otherwise he would come back to complete what he started’ she pleaded
‘I’m sorry. I need this money. I would never let him. I had to go and see my sister in the hospital. She is about your age too but she’s down with renal failure. I need all the money I can lay my hands on. Once your Dad takes us seriously and pays the ransom, I promise you that I will personally ensure that you get home in one piece.’ he said
Simi felt he sounded very sincere. She was surprised that she empathised with this man who was her captor. Simi wondered who Wale was.

She was determined to get as much information out of him as she could.
‘Thank you, Ogadi’ she said, using his name for the first time. He looked at her shyly and walked away, to resume his surveillance by the door.
