After Tony had dropped her at her mother’s houe and left shortly, Maria had come in tears.

Though Alice didnt understand what was going on, she tried her best to comfort her.

She waited till Maria calmed down before asking her the reason for her tears.

After which, she prepared a meal of banga soup and starch with cat fish for her to eat.

Maria couldnt eat much, she was just picking her meal.

Even though Alice found the reason she was crying meaningless, she did her best to encourage Maria.

She understood how Maria felt becaue she had had a crush on a guy who didnt feel the same for her way back in secondary school. But she didnt cry wen he dated another girl, she was just sad.
‘Maria, dont let that Henry make you cry, he’s not worth the tears my darling’ Alice said as she washed the dishes.

They were both in the kitchen now, Maria’s loud cries had reduced to sobs.
‘i thought…..i thought i’ve gotten over the guy’ Maria sobbed.
‘its okay. The guy doesnt feel the same for you and its not his or your fault. And even if he feels the same for you, i hope you know its wrong for you to have a boyfriend at this age. Even though having a crush is somewhat inevitable, you shouldnt let it lead you into having a boyfriend at this age’
‘i know. I never planned having a boyfriend but i just wanted the guy to like me then. Most times i wish he could hug me or put is arms around me, at least show interest in me. Or ask me out for me to refuse. Am i not beautiful enough?’ Maria asked sobbing loudly.
‘its not about being beautiful Maria. Maybe he didnt see in you what he wanted to see in girls.

But that shouldnt hurt you, take Ximena for example. She was in love with your dad but your dad loved me. Isnt she beautiful? More than i am? But why did your dad choose me over her? Stop crying Maria. When you are all grown up and matured, when you meet the man who’s meant for you, it doesnt matter whether you are beautiful or not, he would choose you over Agbani Derego continously’
Maria sobbed again ‘but i love Henry and its him i want’
‘you dont love him darling. You just have a huuuuuugggge crush on him, the size of Nigeria’
Despite her tears, Maria found herself chuckling.
‘so my dear, cheer up. The guy you are crushing on doesnt feel the same for you and its not your fault’
‘can i ever forget him?’
Alice snapped her fingers like she just remembered something ‘you read novels right? I have lots of novels that you can read and forget your heartbreak’
‘its not heartbreak jor’
‘i understand, its mindbreak’
‘stop naw!’
Alice laughed ‘Maria loves a guy ooo!!!!’
‘Alice loves my father oooo’
‘yes oo. I love him with all my heart’
‘and i hate Henry with all my heart’
‘its wrong to hate someone you know’
Maria didnt know when she started laughing again.
